However, the company has recently requested a rate increase, which, if approved, would result in a typical household's electricity bill rising by approximately $10 by 2027. This request is currently under review by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
Additionally, the commission has launched an investigative inquiry into the billing practices of the state's five largest investor-owned utilities, one of which is AES Indiana. The inquiry aims to uncover how these utilities calculate customer bills and their strategies for reducing bills in the face of soaring energy demand.
