Barons Court Tube Station Platforms Closed for Repairs (2026)

Attention, Londoners! A significant development is unfolding at Barons Court Tube Station, and it's a story that deserves your full attention. The iconic station, a Grade II listed gem, is facing an extensive roof repair, and this has sparked a unique challenge for Transport for London (TfL).

But here's where it gets controversial... TfL has announced a plan to close one platform at a time for repairs, starting with the eastbound platform from January to early June, and then the westbound platform from mid-July until the end of the year. This strategy, according to Richard Jones, Director of Asset Performance Delivery, is the safest and quickest way to tackle the 800 panes of glass that need replacing.

Built in 1904, Barons Court has served Londoners for over a century, but now, several key structures are reaching the end of their lifespan. TfL has acknowledged the inconvenience and apologized for any disruption caused.

And this is the part most people miss... The station has been undergoing essential restoration and maintenance since February 2025, but it's only now that the extent of the repairs needed has become clear. According to Jones, these repairs can only be undertaken safely by temporarily closing each platform.

For District line passengers, West Kensington is the recommended alternative, while for Piccadilly services, TfL suggests changing at Earl's Court or Hammersmith. The good news is that both platforms are expected to be open during the Queen's Club tennis tournament, starting on June 6th, although there will be a planned track closure affecting station services on June 13th and 14th.

So, London, are you ready for this unique challenge? How do you feel about the temporary closures and the extensive repairs needed? Share your thoughts and let's discuss! #BaronsCourt #TubeStation #LondonUnderground #Repairs
