Get ready to be chilled to the bone! HanWay Films is taking on international sales for "Legacy," the new horror film from the acclaimed director David Slade, known for his work on "Hard Candy" and "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch." Exclusive footage is already generating buzz at the European Film Market in Berlin.
Written by the up-and-coming screenwriter Thomas Bilotta, "Legacy" promises a "visceral, character-driven horror" experience. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Lucy Hale from "Fantasy Island" and "Truth or Dare," Oscar-winner Anjelica Huston of "The Witches" and "The Addams Family" fame, and Jack Whitehall, known for "Jungle Cruise" and "Fresh Meat."
Produced by Chris Abernathy and Eric B. Fleischman through The Wonder Company, "Legacy" wrapped production in the U.K. last November. The executive producers include Lucy Hale herself, along with Amanda Massetti, Jo Henriquez, Jan McAdoo, Stephen Braun, Ross Putman, James Harris, Mark Lane, and Bishal Dutta. Jess Varley and Bri Hennessey are co-executive producers. While UTA Independent Film Group manages domestic rights, HanWay is handling international sales.
The story of "Legacy" centers on Leah (Hale) and Nate (Whitehall), estranged American siblings. They're brought back together by their father's death, who leaves them his English country estate. Hoping to escape their past, they decide to sell the property. But here's where the real terror begins... When a mysterious woman named Ruth (Huston) appears, their plans quickly fall apart. Over a terrifying 24-hour period, they find themselves under siege by a sinister cult and hunted by something lurking in the shadows.
Gabrielle Stewart, CEO of HanWay Films, expressed her excitement, stating, "It’s great to see David Slade back in the saddle to deliver another strong horror film with a great cast."
And this is the part most people miss... The article also highlights other upcoming films in post-production, including Alex Prager's debut feature "Dreamquil" starring John C. Reilly and Elizabeth Banks; "Billion Dollar Spy," directed by Amma Assante and starring Russell Crowe and Harry Lawtey; Werner Herzog’s new feature "Bucking Fastard," featuring Kate and Rooney Mara, Orlando Bloom, and Domhnall Gleeson; and David Michael’s debut horror film "The Third Parent" starring Rob Lowe and Crispin Glover.
