Get ready for an exciting season ahead as Matt Stone Racing (MSR) unveils its new driver line-up and liveries! This is a big deal, folks, and it's not just about the cars looking sleek and fast. It's about the stories behind these partnerships and the potential for an incredible racing season.
Today, at Distillery Road Market in Eagleby, Queensland, just a stone's throw from MSR's Yatala base, the team revealed their fresh look. And it's a homecoming of sorts for one of their drivers, Le Brocq, who returns to the team with Sherrin Rentals as a full-time sponsor. But here's where it gets interesting: Tyrepower, a key minor sponsor, has also rejoined the team, having previously backed MSR in 2024 with Cameron Hill.
Le Brocq's return to MSR after two seasons at Erebus Motorsport is a significant move. It was with MSR that he achieved his first Supercars win at Hidden Valley in 2023, a moment he describes as a great success and a testament to Matt Stone's relentless drive.
"I'm thrilled to be back with Matt and the team," Le Brocq said. "Our win in Darwin in 2023 was a highlight, and I'm excited to contribute to the team's growth."
But it's not just about the past; the future looks bright too. Car #10, sponsored by Bendix, a braking component manufacturer, will be piloted by rookie sensation Zach Bates. Bates, the 2024 Super2 Series winner, made a strong impression in his wildcard starts last year, including a notable 10th-place finish at the Bathurst 1000 with Craig Lowndes.
"The past couple of years have been incredible," Bates shared. "Winning Super2 and partnering with a legend like Craig Lowndes has been an honor. Now, I'm ready to take on the challenge of joining MSR and learning from the best."
Team owner Matt Stone emphasized the significance of this year, stating, "We've invested heavily in our team during the off-season to accelerate our growth and reach new heights. There's a positive energy in our workshop, and we're determined to succeed both on and off the track."
The Repco Supercars Championship season kicks off with the Dunlop Sydney 500 at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 20-22. Will MSR's new line-up and liveries bring them success? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: it's going to be an exciting ride!
